No, not all trans people fully understand that they are trans as kids

 New research documents that there is a lot of variation as regards:

1. When trans and nonbinary people realize they are transgender, and

2. When they dare to come out to family, friends and peers.

The idea that the current increase in transgender youth coming out around puberty is not the result of peer pressure. Quite, the opposite: It is caused by the fact that society is slightly less transphobic than it used to be, because there are more transgender role models and because it is easier to get help online.
